VALENCIENNES – GOALKEEPER SHIRT 2018/2019

Valenciennes FC are based in the northern French town of Valenciennes, close to the Belgian border. The club plays its home matches at the modern Stade du Hainaut, which opened in 2011 and has a capacity of around 25,000.

Competing in Ligue 2, Valenciennes have spent much of their recent history moving between the top two tiers of French football. While they have won Ligue 2 twice, the club has never claimed the French top-flight title.

This goalkeeper shirt from the 2018/2019 season was primarily worn by first-choice keeper Damien Perquis, an experienced presence between the posts. Known for his reliability and leadership, Perquis played a key role throughout the campaign, contributing 10 clean sheets across his 32 games and providing important saves at crucial moments. His consistency helped Valenciennes maintain a safe distance from the relegation zone, even if results across the season were mixed.

Valenciennes ultimately finished 13th in Ligue 2, ending the season 4 points clear of the relegation play-off places. In cup competition, their run in the Coupe de France came to an early end, as they were knocked out in the Round of 64 following a narrow 1–0 defeat to Amiens SC.
