WALDHOF MANNHEIM - THIRD SHIRT 2025/2026
Waldhof Mannheim, known to everyone as the Waldhof Buben, or Waldhof Boys, are far more than a football team. Formed in 1907, this Mannheim institution is a genuine multi-sports club. Home is the Carl-Benz-Stadion in Baden-Württemberg, and the club carry two spicy local rivalries: the big one with 1. FC Kaiserslautern, plus city needle against VfR Mannheim. A former top-flight name now rebuilding, Waldhof remain one of the best-supported clubs at their level in Germany.
The 2025/2026 campaign in the 3. Liga was a welcome return to calm. After Dominik Glawogger was let go as the season kicked off, Luc Holtz arrived on 12 August and lifted the side to 10th of 20 on 52 points, a clear step up from the 16th and 15th-placed finishes of the two previous years, and this bold third shirt was on show as Holtz brought some order back to proceedings. Safe, settled and looking upwards again, the Buben rediscovered a bit of their swagger.
The feel-good moment came in the cups, with Waldhof winning the regional Baden Cup. Better still, the final was a city derby: Waldhof beat VfR Mannheim 3-0 in front of 16,951 fans, with Terrence Boyd curling in the opener. That triumph earned the club a place in the DFB-Pokal.
Boyd, the United States international who once wore the Kaiserslautern badge, was often used as a super-sub and remained the side's talisman, while Felix Lohkemper led the line up front.
